About the Artist

I first came to LA on a family vacation when I was 15. Growing up in New Jersey, I can't say I had been particularly inspired by the overcast skies and flat suburbs of the east coast. The year-round sunshine, diverse scenery and laid-back lifestyle of Southern California seemed like paradise. I was smitten.
I have been drawing as long as I can remember, but it wasn’t until my junior year of high school that my art teacher (Dr. Richmond Garrick) pushed me to start painting. I did not attend any art school or college, but instead have sought instruction from my favorite professional artists through workshops, books and online courses. The workshops gave me the opportunity to explore the country and solidified my love for plein air painting and the west coast.
A friend of mine said my paintings capture "the idea of California". That is what I strive for. As anyone who has lived in LA knows, it isn't quite what you see in the movies. But despite it's many... many issues, that Southern California sun has a certain charm that won't let me leave. I thank God every day that I get to share the beauty I see in this city with the world.
